Regenerative Livestock: Total success in the ACHIGANAR workshops in Valdivia

In August 2024, ACHIGANAR held two workshops in Valdivia that marked a milestone in the promotion of regenerative livestock farming in southern Chile. These activities, carried out with the support of Sercotec - Los Ríos, brought together businessmen, entrepreneurs and local leaders in a space of learning, dialogue and connection.

Workshop on August 22: Introduction to Regenerative Livestock

Held at Nube Cowork, this workshop offered an introduction to the principles of regenerative livestock farming and its potential to address agri-food challenges, such as climate change and sustainability. With the participation of experts such as Antonio Kusanovic (President of ACHIGANAR), Alejandra Bartsch (Regional Director of INDAP) and Máximo Alonso (UACh), attendees reflected on how to transform their production practices. In addition, Francisco Calabi, administrator of the El Coihue Farm, of Trailenco Regenerative Agriculture, and Luis Palacios, administrator of Cerro Azul, both founding member companies of ACHIGANAR, shared their practical experiences in the implementation of regenerative models.

The workshop had a notable attendance of more than 70 people, who showed great interest in the concepts and tools presented to move towards a regenerative livestock model.

Workshop on August 23: Women and Regenerative Livestock

The second day, Espacio Fluvial was the setting for a workshop specially designed for entrepreneurs, addressing the role of women in the agricultural sector. Leaders such as Anita Rivera (Bosque Frío) and Camila Becker (Granja Isla San Francisco) spoke about regeneration in the sector and agricultural innovation from a gender perspective.

The day also featured the inspiring testimonies of Dominique Casassa and Ana Luisa Oporto, who shared their work in regenerative management in Cerro Azul, highlighting the achievements in grazing and animal welfare.

A regenerative future

These workshops are part of ACHIGANAR's commitment to the dissemination of regenerative livestock farming in Chile. Through these activities, we seek to empower local producers with tools and knowledge that strengthen their practices towards a regenerative and sustainable model.

With an agenda that will continue in 2025, ACHIGANAR invites all interested parties to be part of this transformation.
